Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of RankMerit ("we", "us"), available at rankmerit.com. By creating an account or paying for a subscription you agree to them. Read section 4 and section 8 carefully — they define what we do not promise and how far our liability extends.
1. What the service is
RankMerit is subscription software for search engine optimisation (SEO) and generative engine optimisation (GEO). It measures a website's technical state, keyword positions, referring-domain authority and citation share in AI answer engines, and it produces prioritised changes intended to improve those measurements.
The service is software delivered through a web application and automated pipelines. It is not a consulting engagement, and no minimum number of human working hours is included or implied.
2. Accounts and eligibility
You must provide accurate account information and keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
You may only connect websites and properties that you own or are authorised to manage. Connecting a property you do not control is a breach of these terms and grounds for immediate termination.
The service is intended for business use. You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a contract.
3. Changes to your website
Some plans allow the service to apply changes directly to a connected website — for example page titles, meta descriptions, structured data, internal links and published content. You choose which classes of change may be applied automatically; everything else waits for your approval.
By enabling automatic application you authorise us to write those changes on your behalf. Every change is logged with the previous value recorded, and can be reverted from that log.
You remain responsible for maintaining your own backups. RankMerit is not a backup service, and the rollback log is a convenience, not a guarantee of full site restoration.
We are not responsible for faults, incompatibilities or downtime arising from your hosting, theme, plugins, CDN or other software, including where a change we applied interacts badly with them. If in doubt, use approval mode rather than automatic application.
4. No guarantee of results
Search engines and AI answer engines are independent third parties. Their ranking and citation systems are proprietary, change without notice, and are outside our control.
RankMerit does not guarantee any specific ranking position, traffic level, citation share, impression count, conversion, revenue outcome, or indexing of any page. Any figure shown in the product — including estimated gains, expected traffic and priority scores — is a projection derived from third-party data and is not a promise.
Past performance for one website does not indicate future performance for another.
5. Content, AI output and your review
Text, structured data and other material generated for you ("Output") is produced by artificial-intelligence models, including models you connect yourself. Output may contain inaccuracies, outdated statements or material that resembles existing work.
We operate an automated quality gate that rejects Output failing our mechanical checks and adversarial review. That gate reduces error rates; it does not eliminate them.
You are responsible for reviewing Output before it is published, and for ensuring it is accurate, lawful, non-infringing and appropriate for your industry. Where your sector is regulated — health, finance, legal, pharmaceutical and similar — you are responsible for any required professional or regulatory review.
As between you and us, you own the Output for your connected properties. We retain the right to use aggregated, de-identified data derived from usage to operate and improve the service.
6. Acceptable use
You may not use the service to build or request paid link schemes, private blog networks, automated comment or directory spam, cloaking, doorway pages, scraped or spun content, fabricated reviews or ratings, or any other technique that violates search engine spam policies. We may refuse any instruction that would do so.
You may not use the service for unlawful content, malware distribution, infringement of third-party rights, or deceptive impersonation of a person or organisation.
You may not resell or white-label the service except on plans that expressly permit it, reverse engineer it, use it to build a competing product, exceed reasonable request rates, or use our Output or data to train machine-learning models.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach this section, without refund where the breach is deliberate.
7. Third-party services and data
The service depends on third parties including Google Search Console, the Google Ads API, search engines, AI answer engines, AI model providers and public web-crawl datasets. We do not control them.
Where you connect your own AI provider keys, your relationship with that provider is governed by their terms, you are responsible for their charges, and we are not liable for their availability, pricing, output or policy changes.
Interruption, deprecation, rate limiting or price changes by any third party may reduce or suspend parts of the service. We will make reasonable efforts to adapt but do not warrant continuity of any third-party-dependent feature.
8. Warranties and limitation of liability
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.
We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost rankings, lost traffic, lost data or lost business opportunity, even if advised of the possibility.
Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the greater of (a) fifty US dollars (US$50) or (b) the amounts you actually paid us in the three (3) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
9. Billing, renewal and cancellation
Payments are processed by our merchant of record, which acts as the seller of record for your purchase, issues your invoice and handles applicable taxes.
Subscriptions renew automatically for successive periods until cancelled. You may cancel at any time from your account; access continues until the end of the paid period.
Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy.
We may change prices with at least thirty (30) days' notice before the change takes effect for your next renewal. Continued use after that date constitutes acceptance.
10. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate access for non-payment, breach of these terms, abuse of the service or its infrastructure, or where required by law.
You may terminate at any time by cancelling your subscription. On termination, changes already applied to your website remain yours and stay in place; we stop measuring, producing and applying anything further.
We may retain records required for accounting, tax and dispute purposes as described in the Privacy Policy.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced by email or in the application at least thirty (30) days before they take effect. The date at the top of this page shows the current version.
